Why is Liveedit migrating to Cloudflare?

At liveedit, we're committed to continuously improving the security and performance of our platform. As part of this effort, we're moving our hosting infrastructure to Cloudflare, a leading cloud-based security and performance provider.

It's important to note that this is a change to how your site is hosted with our platform, not to your website content itself. Your site's design, content, and functionality will all stay the same. You won't need to do anything differently, and your visitors won't notice any difference, aside from a faster, more secure experience behind the scenes.

What do I need to do to migrate my domain?

To ensure a smooth transition, the migration will be completed in two separate phases, both of which involve updating DNS records through your domain provider.

We recommend reaching out to your domain provider's support team directly, and they can help add the required records on your behalf for each phase.

  • Phase 1 - Domain Validation
To validate your site with our new Cloudflare hosting, you'll need to add two DNS records (TXT and CNAME) in your domain provider settings. These record details were sent to you via email from our team. If you can't locate the email or need it resent, please submit a ticket.

  • Phase 2 -Connecting to Cloudflare
Once Phase 1 is complete, instructions for Phase 2 will be sent to you via email. This step involves adding two new A records, updating your existing "www" CNAME record, and removing an older liveedit A record.

Migration Deadline

Both Phase 1 and Phase 2 must be completed by July 31st, 2026. If you do not complete this migration, your website will no longer be accessible from your domain.

FAQs

Can I complete Phase 1 and 2 at the same time?

To avoid downtime, Phase 1 must be completed first. Phase 2 records will be provided after the launch.

Will there be any downtime after I update my DNS records in Phase 1 or 2?
No downtime is anticipated for Phase 1 or when updating your DNS records.

What happens if I don't migrate by the deadline?

Your domain will no longer be connected to your liveedit website. However, your liveedit website will still be accessible from your built-in liveedit URL. You can complete both phases after the deadline to reconnect your domain.

Will my monthly subscription cost change?

Our monthly subscription cost will not be changing at this time.

I have multiple domains, do I enter the same records?

Phase 1 requires you to add unique DNS records for each domain to validate. Our team will send you details for each domain connected.

What happens to my SSL certificate?

SSL certificates are automatically set up for all domains connected to our Cloudflare hosting.

I have a new domain I wish to connect. What do I do first?

Please submit a ticket, and our team will provide the necessary next steps.

Can liveedit make these changes for me?

Liveedit doesn't host domain names, so we're unable to change DNS records directly. We recommend first reaching out to your domain provider's support team for help on adding the required DNS records.

If you're having a hard time getting help from your domain provider, we do offer scheduled Zoom appointments to walk you through the changes.

Please make sure you can log into your Domain Provider account before booking a time. Without access, we won't be able to walk you through adding DNS records.
